There are 16 cassette tapes. The cover says 15 cassette tapes and study. The 16th tape is apparently the study guide. I listened to the beginning of each tape and they played fine. To give you a real feel for Italy, they play a little Italian music on the tapes. Pimsleur is a very easy way to study a language. My 79 year old mother is learning Spanish with Pimsleur tapes. She wanted to be able to communicate quickly and easily.
